The aim of the Master of Agricultural Engineering in Rural Development is:
Many people think of an idyllic rural landscape when they hear the word 'countryside'. Students of Rural Development Engineering do not only get to know this idyllic side of the countryside. They also learn about the problems faced by people living in rural areas and how they can improve their living conditions, economic, social and cultural opportunities. What local opportunities, traditions, history and natural assets are available to them? How can new opportunities be created that can make a real difference to a municipality or even a region?

What will you learn?
The Rural Development Agricultural Engineer course prepares students to contribute to the definition of possible directions for sustainable development and the development of rural areas, to formulate concrete development programmes, to manage their implementation and to monitor the processes, building on their knowledge of agriculture, economics, management, rural sociology and rural and regional development. The wide range of subjects
offered provides an excellent opportunity to apply and adapt knowledge in different fields of work and, by choosing a thesis topic, to deepen knowledge in a given area.

What can you do with this qualification?
After graduation, you can work in the administration of agriculture and rural development at local, regional, and central level, as well as in non-governmental organisations and public bodies. The diploma gives you the opportunity to work in administrative and expert posts related to the implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy in your own country or in European Union organisations.

Typical jobs
The jobs may be in private and associated enterprises, cooperatives, financial institutions, insurance companies, municipalities, offices of specialised administrations, advisory organisations, rural development institutions, local action groups, municipalities, where the above activities can be performed mainly at middle and senior management level.
